Data

Hey there! I'm an El Paso native, born and raised right here in this awesome city. Growing up here, surrounded by the desert and this cool mix of cultures, definitely shaped who I am. I'm really proud to call El Paso home. I went to UTEP and got my BA in Political Science – go Miners! My time there sparked a real interest in how things work in our city and made me want to get involved. Now, I'm working for the City of El Paso, which is a pretty cool way to give back to the community I love. I get to work with some great people and try to make a difference, even in small ways. It's a rewarding feeling to contribute to the place that's always been my home.

Field
Carlos Batres

Hello, I’m Carlos Batres, a 27-year-old Organizing Director, fiancé, and father. My journey into field work began at 17 when I joined Pete Gallego’s District 23 congressional campaign. Though we didn’t win, it was rewarding to connect with voters who felt neglected by the political system. This sparked my passion for empowering my fellow El Pasoans.

Initially, I pursued a career in Physical Therapy, moving to Arizona with my fiancé. There, we had our daughter and navigated the challenges of the pandemic away from family. In 2022, as we planned our return to El Paso, I was lucky to land a role with the Beto for Texas campaign. This gave me the chance to return home and refine my organizing skills.

After that campaign ended, I worked as a Client Operations Supervisor for a social media company. However, when the Organizing Director position at the El Paso County Democratic Party opened, I knew it was a perfect fit. I applied and began working there in summer 2024, leveraging my field and supervisory experience.

During the 2024 GOTV phase, I even started my own PAC. Through this role, I’ve built strong relationships with local candidates and developed a solid volunteer base. My goal is to continue empowering the community, fostering connections, and ensuring meaningful involvement in future elections.
